Skill Showcase

Lesson Overview

Students will tap into a skill or ability and teach others how to do it using a sequence writing plan

Get Started

  • Print a copy of the Sequence graphic organizer for each student.
  • Head to Pressto to make a copy of the Pressto assignment, adapt it as needed, and assign it to your students.

Tips for using this assignment with your students:

  • Before Writing –  To help students plan, brainstorm as a class to create a list of the talents, skills, or hobbies they can teach each other.

  • During Writing- As students are writing, you might remind them to consider whether their steps will be clear to someone who is a complete beginner to their skill or talent. You can prompt them to add details with questions such as “What did you have to know about the equipment when you were getting started?” or “Are there any rules about the court a player needs to know before they start playing on it?”
  • After Writing - When students publish, have them share their writing as they teach a friend their skill or talent!
